For example, Meta's recently attempted $2B acquisition of Manus, a Chinese-founded AI agent company that relocated to Singapore. The government in Beijing blocked what they viewed as a showcase of Chinese AI capability landing in American hands. Furthermore, while the US is widely regarded the leader in AI model development, Meta looked to Singapore/China for agentic AI innovation.
