Global business leaders can no longer rely on surface indicators of stability. Many international institutions continue to exist, but their capacity to enforce rules or coordinate cooperation has weakened. Recognizing that shift requires ongoing intellectual adaptation. In this session, Julia Gray guides you through her concept of “zombie internationalism” to illustrate how Lauder trains students to update their mental maps of global order. Through the SAS curriculum’s focus on political institutions, regional dynamics, and historical change, Lauder students learn to separate institutional appearance from institutional performance. That habit of structured rethinking is critical for leaders navigating geopolitical volatility and shifting market conditions.
